Dance Concert was a success. Yesterday morning, my mother woke me up in the early hours of morning and told me I had softball practice. After being so exhausted from our shows the night before, I complained and groaned and begged to stay home and sleep. She said, "I'll only make you go for an hour." I got out of bed and got ready. Sure enough, at 10:30 when she was supposed to be here, she texted me saying, "Don't you want to stay longer?"
umm. No mom. I wanted to sleep longer.
I told her to come and get me, but apparently she didn't get the message. Later in practice, after missing a fly ball in the sun, I fell to the ground and touched my swollen face. "Maybe she'll come get me NOW." I thought. I don't think I have ever been hit in the face with a ball. But I was hit HARD. The first thing that came to mind was, "Are you kidding me? Right before the dance concert?" I was so scared.
My head ached so bad and my face was all swollen from where the ball hit me. I had a performance in 2 hours. this could not be worse timing. I iced my face, for a long time and it helped. My eye was starting to close up. Despite my throbbing headache, I danced the best I could for the 2 oclock showing and nailed my aerials. The headache was a killer, but I love dancing so much, there was no way I was going to take it easy. If anything, I was just self conscious about it all. My Aunt Amie, being the makeup artist/ wizard that she is, covered it up amazing. I was told you couldn't tell from the audience.
Everyone was so sweet to me, especially Kelsey and Nikki. I love my whole dance family, and I am so thankful for everyone who helped me yesterday. It will definitely be a memorable concert. Thanks to Zoela, Maddie, Bailee, Ciara, Linds, Hallie, Lauren, Sydney, Emma, Brianne, Court and all my family that came to support me. It was such a great year.
